I also used Easy CD Creator 5 (Direct CD) in the past to create dozens of CD´s for backup purposes. Now that I have an Acer Aspire E1-571 with Windows 10 64 and a DVD RW, I need to restore some old files from them. Nevertheless, the disks are not recognized by system.
I´ve tried some UDF readers like the existing Roxio update, but it doesn't install, saying at first that 'no Easy CD Creator was found to update'. Then I installed ECD Creator 5.1 (Directd CD 5.1) from original disks and now it says that it works 'only with ECDC versions 5 and upper'. So, no way to update (crazy, because Roxio name it as a 'standalone UDF Reader' and my installed version is 5.1). I've found a IsoBuster app in the Net that can read all file information in the udf CD´s, but I can't open or copy them. So the question is: Does anybody have a solution for that? Thanks in advance. So the question is: Does anybody have a solution for that? Thanks in advance . The alleged UDF Reader on the Roxio site is NOT a standalone reader.
It's an updater as you've noticed, and therefore useless unless you already have the reader installed. I've told many Roxio people about that but nobody has fixed it. I've been running the final version of Drag-to-Disc quite happily in Windows 7 for some time. If you are running a 32-bit Operating System I think it would be worth trying to run it under Windows 10, and if it runs you might well be able to read all your old D2D discs. It works fine with my old discs under Win 7, but I don't have Win 10 yet to try it there.
This version won't work in a 64-bit O.S. And I haven't been able to find a 64-bit one.
You can find it on the Roxio site. They call it a patch, but it's actually a stand-alone installer for Drag-to-Disc and doesn't need any other Roxio products installed.
Regards, Brendon.
If you have a CD-R or CD-RW drive, consider purchasing Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. This must-have upgrade of Adaptec's leading CD-R utility bundle is now published by Roxio (Adaptec's software subsidiary, due to be spun off soon as a separate company). For about $100, this package will make your recordable CD drive more useful than ever before. Like the prior version, Easy CD Creator 5 makes creating data and music CDs quick and simple. The software includes a jewel case and label design program, a sound editor, a disk duplicator, and Spin Doctor to clean up digitized recordings from records and tapes.
You can also make a slide show on a CD or create audio CDs from WAV, WMA, and MP3 files. The news is in what's been added. Foremost for music enthusiasts is a feature that can convert CD audio tracks to MP3 files.
Another feature, MP3 CD Project, lets you create a disk full of MP3 files. This is essentially the same as the data disk feature but with one important addition: It also generates a file named Playlist.M3U, which is used by most MP3 players to determine the order in which the files are played. You simply click and drag to get the songs in the sequence you want. Audio CDs are limited to 74 or 80 minutes of play time, but since MP3s are more compressed, you can fit hours of music on a single disk. For data files, you can create a DirectCD disk that uses packet writing, so you can drag and drop files in Microsoft Windows Explorer to be saved to the disk. A utility, Take Two, can back up your hard drive regardless of size: It spans multiple CDs.
Easy CD Creator 5 now also includes an MPEG-1 encoder, so you can convert video clips. Users of prior versions will note that the cartoon CD character is gone and that the old start-up menu is replaced by a stylish version that returns after you close one of the applications. The result is a set of tools that simplifies just about anything you might want to do with a CD-R or CD-RW drive. Even if your drive came bundled with another utility, you should seriously consider adding Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum to your system.
